Dear AALM Members, The purpose of this memo is twofold: First, to make clear what is the intended use of the AALM’s dock; second, to inform you of the unsafe condition of the dock and the Association’s plans to address this.
Our Association has benefited from its dock for over a hundred years – initially the dock and gazebo served members in the logistics of travelling between the Ivry train station and their properties. Today the dock serves for occasional and temporary use by the members for such things as fueling their boats, attending AALM or Ivry council meetings or as a staging area while they launch or remove their boats. Use by non-members is not permitted at any time, nor is its use for picnics, parties, etc.
In recent years there has been an accumulation of sand and silt that has made the west side of the dock unusable. Furthermore, the dock has reached its end of life, and in its current state it is unsafe. We ask all members to refrain from using the dock until it has been rebuilt. Any use of the dock is at your risk.
The AALM board is in the process of evaluating the best alternative to remedy the condition of the dock, which will likely require a new dock. We will keep you informed of this plan, and depending on the cost, any fundraising activities that may arise.
